New Recalls for Some 2013 and 2014 C-Max Hybrid and Energi

Ford has recently issued two recalls for some C-Max Hybrids and Energis.  To check whether they apply to you, enter your VIN at the FordEtis website.

Restraints Control Module 14S21: “In the affected vehicles, the restraints control module may experience a short circuit.  If a short circuit occurs, the airbag warning indicator will illuminate.  Depending on the location of the short circuit, the deployable restraint systems (e.g., airbags, pretensioners, side curtains) may not function as intended in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.  The short circuit may also affect the function of other systems that use data from the restraints control module, including stability control.  In these cases, the corresponding warning indicator lamps would also illuminate.”

The Emission Recall 14E02: “In some of the affected vehicles, the On-board Diagnostic (OBD-II) system may be inhibited when Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P24BC is set by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).  When DTC P24BC is set, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) will not illuminate to alert the driver of a potential impact to vehicle emission control systems.”
