2013 & 2014 Ford C-Max Recall

According to the Canadian government and the US NHTSA there is a new recall (May 7th) on some 2013 and 2014 Ford C-Max Hybrid and Energi cars.  The advisory on the Canadian site states, “On certain vehicles, due to a defect in the restraint control module programming, deployment of the side curtain airbags may be delayed in certain rollover circumstances, which could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.”  According to the NHTSA website, “Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the RCM, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 26, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673.”  C-Max owners can check for the recall at the Ford Owner website.  The recall notice at the Ford Owner website is listed for my Energi as ID: 14S04, Reprogram Restraints Control Module.  It also appears on the FordEtis website, along with a SYNC change that I wasn’t aware of.  FordEtis is a useful tool to find possible issues with your C-Max.
