According to Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Ford began October with 122 days of inventory supply for the C-Max.  Inventory rose from 108 days on September 1st.  Automakers try to inventory about 60 days of supply per vehicle.  The C-Max Hybrid had the lowest monthly sales in September of any full-sales month since it was introduced to the U.S. market in 2012.

  1. Note that the week of October 28 overlaps the start of Michigan’s deer hunting season. Low production and productivity that week at all factories in Michigan. Week before Christmas needs no comment.

    • Ford certainly picked good weeks for the down time for workers. I should have included that in the blog. It is more interesting to me that inventory is very high which means potential buyers can get a very good deal right now, if they shop around.

    • I agree. Personally, I think the Energi should be outselling the Hybrid right now. The MPG displayed in the car was awful when we picked up our Energi. The battery was totally discharged. Dealers should do all the demo drives in EV Auto (or EV Now) mode and charge the vehicle but display MPG. It’s misleading but the salesman could then explain why the MPG display was perhaps 300 MPG! It’s not just advertising. The dealerships are awful at selling these cars, especially the Energi.
