The foot-operated power liftgate is called the “Hands-Free Technology Package by Ford.” The foot-operated power liftgate is not the same as the power liftgate in the SE trim of the C-Max Hybrid. The foot-operated power liftgate is included in the 302A and 303A equipment groups of the SEL model of the Hybrid and Energi. It is not available on the SE model of the C-Max Hybrid. A power liftgate is included in the 201A and 203A equipment groups on the SE (as an option for the 202A) but it is not operated with your foot. With this feature on the SE, the liftgate can be operated with a button on the key fob.

Answer: Many prospective buyers of the Ford C-Max Energi or Hybrid want to know what the panoramic sunroof is like. The sunroof on the C-Max Hybrid and Energi is fixed – it doesn’t open. When you look down on the roof exterior, the glass covers a very large area. Examining the opening from the interior is different. It is quite small. It is set back very far from the front window too. The opening of the sunroof is above the back of my wife’s head when she sits in the driver’s seat. It is similar to the fixed sunroof on the Prius V, which is only available with the expensive technology package on the Prius. It isn’t nearly as nice as the sunroof on some small SUVs, like the Volkswagen Tiguan. Even though the sunroof is fixed, it lets light into the cabin and may make it feel more spacious and bright.

On January 10th, 2013, we were able to take photos of a Ford C-Max Energi with a panoramic sunroof. My wife enjoyed how much lighter the sunroof made the cabin of the C-Max Energi. The two pictures below give a better idea of the position of the driver’s head when the seat is moved backward and forward as far as it will move.
